One of the last Pocket Rockets - I have come across – is Nissan Micra 350SR. It’s the latest creation from Nismo. The whole idea about this car that it has been modified to carry tweaked 3,5 litter V6 engine from his relative Nissan 350Z with specially manufactured 6 speed close-ratio gearbox. The engine from this coupe has been upgraded to output 310hp. These numbers don’t look very impressive, but if you take in to account that stock Nissan Micra weighs only 1000 kg (2204lbs) and after the modification its weight wouldn’t rise anymore than 1150kg. With those kind of horsepower and a little help from the rear driven wheels this lightweight mid-engine car could propel itself from 0 to 100 kmh (60mph) in less than five ticks (1 tick equals 1 second) of the mechanical stopwatch.
Like the old racers proverb says “power is nothing without control”, so engineers working on this project had to tweak the the suspension, that it could handle this strange (for this car) weight distribution, which is caused by the change of engine layout. When talking about speed this car is not the king, but for its class capability to hit 240km/h (150mph) is something.
